Duties and responsibilities:

Conducting daily ward rounds in the Children’s Ward and in the Special Care Unit.

The registrar would complement the existing middle grade team and participate in the current shift system but will be expected to the support the SHO team if required

Support the junior trainees and liaise closely with the nursing staff and attending/on call Consultant.

Participation in teaching, departmental meetings, audit and generation of guidelines will be expected if required

Assisting in and contributing to Paediatric outpatient clinics, ward rounds, departmental meetings as required

Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge including all administrative duties associated with patient care

Support outpatient clinics under supervision from consultant and thus contribute to the provision of a comprehensive efficient paediatric service

Provide evidence based care for all patients within their sphere of responsibility. To liaise effectively and in a timely manner with the General Practitioners, Community Services and all other health care agencies when appropriate

Responsible for carrying out teaching as required and to contribute to postgraduate and continuing medical education activity

Required to participate in audit, clinical governance

Person Specification:

MBBS or equivalent

MD / DCH in Paediatrics

MRCPch / Part MRCPch or PLAB 1&2

Minimum 3 years full time post graduate experience

Minimum of 18 months of continuous General paediatrics experience including neonatology

GMC registration (or eligible to secure GMC registration)

Efficiency in Teamwork and equally good communication skills
