Key Duties:
Clinical responsibility will involve all aspects of stroke care: hyper acute/acute and community/early support discharge
To promote interdisciplinary working between relevant hospitals based specialties
To develop clinical and managerial skills
To provide clinical services in line with the Trust’s clinical governance arrangements
To undertake audit of clinical practice within the department to ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied
Maintain and develop clinical skills. Individual training and development needs will be identified through an appraisal process taking into account Trust requirements
To work within the Trust’s clinical risk management policies and in particular to participate as appropriate in clinical incident reporting.
To provide clinical direction and training for junior staff
Take full part in the organisation and delivery of the formal induction and education programme for all junior staff
To contribute to the education of medical and nursing students, paramedics and trainees in other specialties as required
Person Specification:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
MRCP – part/full
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
Up to date ALS
Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need
Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job
Evidence of active participation in audit
Always considers patients preferences when discussing treatment options.
Always considers the full impact of clinical decisions on the patients
Directs and supports patients to access the information they need to support decision making
