Main Duties and responsibilities:
To have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge
Work closely with consultant colleagues in the A&E department to improve the
Management of medical emergencies
Assist in the development / use of and teaching of the Care of the elderly patients
Work jointly with Divisional colleagues to ensure the Trust achieves the 4 hour
Waiting time target and eight Clinical Quality Indicators for patients
To have an awareness of the Emergency Cap and the effect it has on the Division
Undertake prospective cover of team colleagues to ensure Geriatric medicine is
Appropriately supported during periods of leave
Participate in clinical audit activities and professional training of staff in the department
Person Specification
MRCP or equivalent.
Wider Clinical experience in General Internal Medicine
Full GMC/Specialist registration with a Licence to Practise (or be eligible for full GMC registration)
Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Elderly Care Medicine
Consultant level experience
Leadership and Management skills
Efficiency in teamwork and superior communication skills
