Duties:
To provide a first class clinical service to all patients
Provide high quality care to patients, especially primary diagnosis and initiating emergency treatment
provide clinical leadership within the department, as well as specialist emergency medicine expertise
Responsible for the diagnosis and initial treatment and resuscitation of all emergencies.
Will be expected to participate actively in direct clinical management as well as overseeing care provided by junior medical and non-medical staff.
Should monitor the workload and stresses within the department moving staff accordingly and ensuring that breaks are taken. Work closely with the senior nurse to provide clinical leadership for the department, ensuring that all areas are functioning optimally and providing the highest standard of care for all patients attending the Emergency Department.
Provide sufficient information to colleagues during handover to ensure consistency of care
To work towards and comply with National emergency medicine targets
Teaching, supervision and development of Junior Medical and non-Medical staff
Contribute to Audits and ongoing Research
Person Specification:
MBBS (or equivalent)
MRCEM / FRCEM (or equivalent)
Full Registration with the GMC (or eligible for Full registration)
Minimum 7 years full time post graduate experience
Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Emergency Medicine
Consultant level experience
Leadership and Management skills
Efficiency in teamwork and superior communication skills
