Duties and responsibilities:
Conducting daily ward rounds in the Children’s Ward and in the Special Care Unit.
- The Consultant would complement the existing team and participate in the current rota
- Involvement in clinical governance and management
- Support the junior doctors and liaise closely with the nursing staff
- Assisting in and contributing to Paediatric outpatient clinics, ward rounds, departmental meetings as required
- Support outpatient clinics and contribute to the provision of a comprehensive efficient paediatric service
- Provide evidence based care for all patients within their sphere of responsibility.
- Liaise effectively with the General Practitioners, Community Services and all other health care agencies as required
- Teaching, supervision and development of Junior medical and non-medical staff
- Contribute to audits and ongoing research activity
Person Specification:
MBBS or equivalent
MD / DCH in Paediatrics
MRCPCh / FRCPSych or equivalent
Minimum 7 years full time post graduate experience
Minimum of 2 years continuous General paediatrics experience including neonatology
Consultant level experience
GMC registration (or eligible to secure GMC registration)
Efficiency in Teamwork and superior communication skills
Leadership and Management skills
